About UsWelcome to the Website for CAGE Greater Nottingham. We are a not-for-profit Association, run as an Independent Training Group, funded by Construction Skills.It was set up in 2000, with the encouragement of the Nott’s Construction Forum (NCF) and CAGE North Notts. A small group of like-minded construction companies in Greater Nottingham decided to give the construction industry its support, by focussing their attention on the general skills shortages problem within the industry. In 2005, after 5 years of concentrated effort, we at last fulfilled the criteria set out by Construction Skills, and acvhieved our Funded Independent Training Group status. Our aims include, Forging of links between young people and the construction industry. Engagement with the schools and colleges; Facilitation of best practice in recruitment; Placements within the industry for work experience; Promotion of training within our Membership. Liaison with the relevant agencies and construction industry bodies. We are passionate about our tasks and to date we have attracted 60 Company Members, ranging from small local companies to larger national companies with regional bases in Greater Nottingham. The Membership continues to grow. The Members meet regularly; share ideas; provide educational opportunities on a range of topics; have social events; produce a quarterly newsletter; provide work experience; run competitions in the schools and colleges; and constantly promote the importance of continued training for the existing workforces. The activities of CAGE GN raise the awareness of the need for future professionals, technicians, craftsmen and manual operatives in the industry, making special efforts to foster links with schools, and endeavouring to inspire young people to consider career opportunities within the construction industry. CAGE GN, in fulfilling its work, partners with New College; Castle College; CAGE North Notts and the Nottinghamshire Construction Forum (NCF) as well as our much-appreciated agencies and supporters listed.
